John Louis Denny Jr. passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, in Richmond at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.
Born on April 6, 1941, in Madison County to the late John Louis and Ethel Lucena Ray Denny, John was the owner of Denny Sod Company for many years.
Survivors include Rachel Denny, the mother of his children, Wayne Davis (Patty) of Richmond, Speedy Denny (Marsha) of Richmond, Jon-Jon Denny III (Shannah) of Richmond, and Sandra Clingler (Tim) of Florida; as well as Kathy Allen, the mother of Steven Denny of Richmond, and Johnny Charles Denny, who precedes him in death, also survived by a daughter, Sue Farthing (James) of Richmond; one brother, David Denny (Patty) of Richmond; grandchildren, John Denny IV, John Dylan Farthing, Jamie Lyn Lakes, Johnathan Charles Denny, Brittney Denny, Brooklyn Denny, Johnna Denny, Jacqualyne Lane, Cash Denny, Ryan Clingler and Wayne Davis III; great-grandchildren, Landon Denny, Winter Denny, Adyson Farthing, Aubree, Maddox Clingler and Giavanna Davis.
John is also preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca McIntosh and Anita Money.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Beverly Horn officiating services. Burial will follow in the McIntosh-Denny Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2017, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home
Pallbearers will be Will Denny, Leon Parks, James Leach, Tucker Payne, Eddie Tribble and Jonathan Denny. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Sebastian, Charlie Lutes and Fonnie Horn.
