Kenneth E. Hamilton, age 67, of Edgewood, Md., passed away on April 11, 2017, at his home. Born in Berea, he was the son of Edward and Marie (Mullins) Hamilton.
He retired from the Coast Guard after 22 years of service as an E8 Chief Engineer and from the Harford County Board of Education after 20 years where he worked as a HVAC technician. He was a life member of the Abingdon Fire Department, belonged to VFW Post 17, and was a longtime summer resident of Pleasure Beach in Waterford, Conn. He played Senior Softball and was a yearly supporter of the Aberdeen IronBirds.
Mr. Hamilton is survived by: his wife, Cora Hamilton; his son, Timothy E. Hamilton; daughter, Tammy (Sharaf) M. Mashaal; grandson, Gaberial S. Mashaal; sister, Susan (Ronnie) Sears; brothers, David Hamilton, Jeff Hamilton and Thomas Hamilton; many nieces and nephews; and his four legged chocolate companion Darby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas J. Hamilton, and his sister, Carla Hamilton.
Visitation will be held at the family owned and operated McComas Funeral Home, Abingdon, Md., on Monday, April 17, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Service will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 18 at 10 a.m. Interment will take place in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bel Air.
