Michael Wayne Parker, 59, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, at his home.
Born October 29, 1957, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Elgin G. and Anna Frances Maye Parker. He received his Bachelors degree in Journalism and his Masters Degree in Political Science from Eastern Kentucky University. He was a former President of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity at EKU and was very active in EKU Colonel Club.
Mike was the former owner of College Station Liquor Store for 23 years. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church where he also served as a member of the Finance Committee and of the Knights of Columbus. Mike served as Regional Vice President and member of the National Board of Ducks Unlimited and an Emeritus member of that National Board. He served on the City of Richmond Human Rights Committee and worked with Kentucky River Foothills Transportation service.
Mike is survived by one son, Stewart Rees Parker (Silke) of Richmond.
Funeral mass for Mike will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017, at St. Mark Catholic Church, with Fr. Tom Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Church. Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
