Reford's Story

Reford George Watkins, 70, passed away suddenly on Aug. 15, 2017 in
Richmond, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diana, and their
children Anne, Kathleen Hoff (Brian), R.J.; two wonderful grandsons, Connor
and Nathan Hoff; five brothers, Richard, Gary (Gina), Robert, Glenn and
Steven (Jacqueline); his dear Aunt Betty, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was born in Queens, N.Y. to Reford ONeil and Lillian Olga Watkins. He
is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved brother, Bryan.

He attended college in Long Island, N.Y. before enlisting in the U.S. Marine
Corps in June 1965. He proudly served his country including two tours of
duty in Vietnam where he was wounded during the Tet Offensive and received
two Purple Hearts.

After a full life working including the founding of Watkins Yacht and Marine
with his brothers Richard, Gary, and Robert,
Reford retired to Richmond, KY. He had many interests and hobbies and
enjoyed his life so much. We will all miss his great sense of humor and his
big laugh. He will be sadly missed forever by his grieving family.

A memorial service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, FL will be
held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the
Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA). Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home
is in charge of local services
