Sally B. Dean of Fairmount, Ind., and formerly of Berea, passed away September 27, 2016, at Colonial Oaks after a long illness.
She is survived by her son, Jerry (Ticky) Abrams of Berea, her daughter, Penny Dean of Milwaukee, Wis., and sister, Lucy Howard of Manchester, Ky. She is also survived by: her daughter-in-law Diana Durham of Palos Verda Estates, Calif.; grandchildren, Jesse (Nenna) Abrams of Berea, Jamie (Ron) Kinmon of Walton, Ky., and Andrea Abrams of San Francisco, Calif.; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dean was born October 12, 1928, in Clay County, Ky., to the late Joe and Reva (Hibbard) Blair. Also preceding her in death were her husband Earl Dean, son Garry Abrams, sister Mildred Smith, and brothers Elihu Blair and Bill Blair.
Sally graduated from Clay County High School and worked several years at McAfee's Drugstore in Berea. She was a member of College Wesleyan Church in Marion, Ind. She served on the funeral dinner committee, was a greeter, and a member of the Homesteaders Sunday School.
Visitation will be held November 19, 2016, at Davis and Powell Funeral Home in Berea from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Service will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jon Burdette officiating. Private interment will be in the Isaac-Lunsford-Davidson Cemetery in Jackson County.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson's Disease Foundation in Mrs. Dean's name.
A prior memorial service was held October 29 at College Wesleyan Church with Pastor Judy Huffman officiating. Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmount, Ind., handled arrangements.
