Stella Lucille Van Winkle Miller, age 77, widow of Howard Miller, died Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Berea Health & Rehab. Mrs. Miller was a native of Berea, born to the late Charles and Malissie Whittemore Van Winkle. She was of the Baptist faith, and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to work in her flower gardens and to prepare meals for family and friends. Before retiring, she was employed by Berea Hospital.
Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: an infant daughter, Sandra Miller; two brothers, Charles Van Winkle Jr., and Elwin Van Winkle; a sister, Etta Mae Gadd; two grandchildren, Malissa Miller, and Jeremy Miller.
Mrs. Miller is survived by: her sons, Rev. Wayne Miller of Berea, Randy Miller and his wife Pam of Florence, and Danny Miller and his wife Tammy of Mount Vernon; a nephew she considered her own, Greg Powell and his wife Gayle; her brother, Forester Van Winkle of Berea; seven grandchildren, Jason, Faith, Jenny, Madisan, and Logan Miller, Sadie, and Garrett Powell; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Melissa Duff.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Van Winkle officiating. Burial will follow in the Chasteen Cemetery in Rockcastle County. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2017, at the funeral home.
