Richmond, KY - Armon Rodell Sanders, 90, a lifelong resident of Madison County in the Baldwin community, passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington. He was the husband of the late Barbara Rhodus Sanders.
Armon was born on November 8, 1935, in Madison County, and was the son of Emmett Newton Sanders and Amelia Jane Perkins Sanders, both of whom preceded him in death. He served from February 1955 to December 1958 in the United States Air Force and reached the rank of Airman 1st Class. He was a lifelong farmer in the Baldwin community and retired from Westinghouse/ Phillips Lighting. For many years he worked at Oldham, Roberts, & Powell Funeral Home as a funeral attendant. Armon was a longtime member of Antioch Christian Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mimi S. Schoneman (Eric) and Jennifer S. Frazier (Paul); one son, Phillip D. Sanders (Teresa); four grandchildren, Cassandra Sanders Burrus (Michael), Matthew Frazier, Nicholas Frazier, and Brittany Sanders; one niece Guyvonne Tribble Johnson Duke; and one nephew, Steve Tribble; and many other family members. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Norva Sanders Tribble (Guy).
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Oldham, Roberts, & Powell Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Kelley officiating. His burial will follow with military honors in the Richmond Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randall Webb, Scott Turpin, Jim Dawes, Carl Hoover, Tommy Hawkins, Glenn Floyd, and Cameron Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy May, Donald Wayne Short, Billy Glenn Turpin, and Steve Tribble.
