Orlandk, KY - Harold Jonathan Adkins, 64, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Compassionate Care Hospice in Richmond, Kentucky.

Jon to those who knew him, he was born November 2, 1961 to Harold Adkins and Linda Adkins (nee Merritt), who both preceded him in death. Jon was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, but traveled frequently when he was young during his service in the United States Army, of which he was proud but never boastful.

Jon was many things to many people —a son, a brother, an uncle, a father, a husband, and a friend. Anyone who knew him can attest to his unending love of music, literature, games, and technology, but nothing mattered more to him than his loved ones. He took pride in the work that he did, but his real joy was simply spending time on his mountain-side farm with his pets and his wife, whom he found later in life but loved enough to make up for all the years before they met.

His memory lives on in those he called family—his siblings, Blaine Anthony Adkins and Laura Lynn Davis (nee Adkins); his daughter, Elyzabeta Adkins-Carman, and her spouse, Christina Carman-Adkins; his wife, Sherri Adkins, and the children and grandchildren that she brought with her into his life; his nieces and nephews, Allison Brokofsky (nee Davis), Silas Adkins, Ian Adkins, Andrew Adkins, and Robert Adkins, and their children, whom he treated like his own grandchildren every chance he got; anyone and everyone he ever called a friend, whether it was during his time in the military, in various bands, in a variety of guilds, or as a teammate in his work.

At his own wishes, there will be no service for Jon, but the family asks that should you like to remember him, do so by taking the time to eat a meal with your family, play games with your friends, enjoy live music on a warm night, and give your dog just one more treat. It's what he would've wanted. In lieu of flowers, they encourage donations to your local animal shelters and humane societies.
