Harriett Susan Melvin Tobin
Harriett Susan Sparks Melvin Tobin, 71, passed away Saturday, March 21st, 2020 peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
She loved to be with her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She was an amazing artist. Her favorite pastime was painting, entertaining for family and friends, and baking. At one time, she owned her own successful catering business, Sugar & Spice, in Mt. Sterling, KY. She was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Richmond, KY.
She leaves behind two children, a son Charles (Jenny) Melvin of Libertyville, IA and a daughter Tricia Melvin of Lexington, KY. Seven grandchildren Caleb (Kristie) Lawson, Tyler Lawson, Mitchel Melvin, Jaden Lawson, Matthew Melvin, Maxwell Melvin, and Makenzie Melvin. Two great-grandchilden Isabelle Lawson and Lucius Lawson. One brother Oakie (Carol) Sparks of Emma, KY and two sisters Mary (Burl) Click of Prestonsburg, KY and Dinah VanHoose of Emma, KY. And numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chalres David Melvin. Three brothers McKinley Sparks, Jr., Willis Sparks and Harry Thomas Sparks. Two sisters Peggy Branham and Pauline Wells.
A private family service and burial will be held. A public celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date, due to current restrictions.
