Richmond, Kentucky - William (Billy) Clay Anderson, of Richmond, Ky. passed away on April 4, 2025.

He was born on September 23, 1944, in Round Hill, Kentucky, to the late Johnie and Hallie Emma Prewitt Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Eugene, Jr. and Dorothy Spurlock and a brother-in-law, Eugene W. (Bill) Spurlock III.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ellen Spurlock Anderson; two sons, Jason Clay Anderson and Kevin Lee Anderson (Andrea); a sister-in-law, Linda Spurlock Cates; one nephew, Eugene W. (Billy) Spurlock, IV (Sheri); one niece, Jenny Ellen Spurlock; great-nephews, Cade Spurlock, (Nicole), Gavin Spurlock, Max Spurlock and Garrett Wickersham (Katelyn); great-nieces, Angelia Brumfield and Hannah Brumfield (O'Shea).

Bill graduated from Madison Central High School in the Class of 1962 and united in marriage to Margaret Ellen Spurlock on June 19, 1971. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He worked at Estes Country Store and then for Perry Construction before joining the staff of Bluegrass Hardware where he worked for 18 years. Then he worked for Madison Grocery/Hackney Grocery Companies for over 30 years until his retirement.

Billy faithfully served at Kirksville Baptist Church in many roles over the years, including Deacon, Trustee, church treasurer, church clerk, boy's Sunday School teacher, BTU teacher, and mission trip chaperone. He especially enjoyed driving the church van for mission and youth trips, never seeming to mind the antics along the way. On every trip, he was a steady supporter and encourager.

He found joy in tending to his garden and taking pride in his lawn and home. Billy loved playing on church softball teams and was an avid fan of all sports, especially UK basketball. He rarely missed a moment when his sons were involved in Little League or school athletics, always there cheering them on. He also cherished time spent with his family camping, fishing and hiking.

Billy was a devoted husband to Margaret and a loving father to Jason and Kevin (Andrea). Billy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
